Formal Platforms
Everything on a single page? Unfortunately, not. For university, you have to deal with different platforms, but you quickly get used to which information is stored where. To give you an overview, we have listed the different systems that you can use once you have set up your university account.
General Info
- It makes sense to open the systems briefly and perhaps bookmark them in the browser.
- As a first-semester student, you don't have to do much more than that before you start your studies, as everything about the necessary registrations is explained during the orientation phase and in the first lectures.
- Sometimes individual courses use their own systems, which are then presented in the course itself.
Campusportal
- The first thing you will have to do is check out the campus portal. Here you can enroll in your study program.
- In the further course of your studies, you will also use this page more often.
If you have to pay the semester fee for the next semester, you can find the transfer data here. - As soon as the semester fee has been received by the university, your certificate of enrollment and your semester ticket will be stored in the campus portal.
- If you move or if other personal data changes, you can also change this in the campus portal.
BOSS System
The BOSS system (bologna online study service) stores all data relating to examinations and enrolment. You often need the system for the following functions:
- Certificate of enrollment
- Registration of written exams
- Overview of grades
- Transkript of records
You should not forget to register for the exam up to two weeks before the exam. You should always save the confirmation of the exam registration, because it happens from time to time that the system causes errors.
If you need an official transcript of records, you must apply for one at the Examinations Office. Find the right contact person at Team 4 of the Examinations Office. Usually, you don't have to wait longer than one day for an answer from the Examinations Office.
LSF
The LSF (Lehre Forschung Studium) has several functions and is perhaps a little confusing at first glance.
- Room allocation: Always check whether rooms have changed at short notice at the beginning of the semester (e.g. for the first lecture).
- Course registration for lectures and exercises
- Under Lectures -> Search for Lectures it is best to search if you know the exact lecture number or the exact lecture title.
- Most Lectures are also listed under Lectures -> Course Overview-> Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.
- You can find exam dates at the beginning of the semester using the search mask: Search for lectures and Type -> Exam. However, these can still change if they have not been officially announced.
- The LSF can help you create your weekly schedule. However, experience shows that not all courses are registered in the LSF, so this only works to a limited extent.
Moodle
Moodle is the central learning and working platform of the university. Almost every course has its own Moodle room.
- You can find lecture slides, assignment sheets, forums for questions and more on Moodle.
- Sometimes you are automatically enrolled in the Moodle room if you have taken the course in the LSF portal.
- Sometimes you have to use the Moodle search function to find the room manually.
- We also have Moodle courses to help you with your studies. These will be presented during the O-week. Here is a list of important Moodle rooms.
Websites
Google is your friend - especially when it comes to finding your way around the complicated structure of university websites. The faculty website mentioned on the first page is a helpful starting point for a whole range of concerns. Information on the individual modules (rooms, times, event numbers and registration procedures) can best be found on the pages of the individual chairs.
- Take a little time to get to know the pages of the chairs and get a feel for the structure.
- A good knowledge of the faculty's site will also help you if you want to clarify your questions about individual issues later on.
Retina Pool
You get your own separate account for printing and using the faculty's exercise computers. These computers are called "Retina". There will be an information event during the orienteering week. If you missed it, you can also find the information on the Retina website, which you can only access from the TU's VPN. If your printer account is empty, you can have it recharged at our print service.
Zoom & Webex
For online courses and lectures that may be streamed, the university has two video conferencing services: Zoom & Webex. You can find more information about the systems on the ITMC website. You may have to log in to Zoom with your university account.
Module Manual and Examination Regulations
Although these are not platforms, they are important documents for your studies: module manual and examination regulations.
- The module manual contains all the modules - courses - that you can take in your programm. Requirements are defined for each subject and the contents are listed.
- The examination regulations (PO) are, so to speak, the law that governs the conduct of examinations in the degree programme.
If you get the chance, you should take a look at it, you can find it on the faculty's page:
Always pay attention to the current version or the one you are studying according to.
