Language Course Placement Test
This test is only important for you if you plan to take a free language course at the Center for Higher Education (zhb) in the first semester. Of course, you can also take a language course later, but you must remember to take the placement test two weeks before the start of the semester if you have previous knowledge of German. If German is a foreign language for you, a language course at the beginning can be helpful.
Language courses at university
Most courses require proof of language proficiency. If you don't have one, there are placement tests about two weeks before classes start. You register, go there, take the test and are assigned to a level. This gives you the opportunity to register for language courses at your level.
If you only want to learn a new language out of interest, this might not be a good idea in the first semester: Don't expect too much of yourself. In the first semester, you should dedicate yourself completely to your studies in order to get a feeling for your time management.
