Pre-course math
We recommend everyone to participate in the math pre-course. On the one hand, you get to know your future fellow students, on the other hand, you refresh your math knowledge and get an impression of how Höhere Mathematik (HöMa) works. This makes the first weeks much more pleasant.
Pre-course for ET/IT or ICT students
The Department of Mathematics offers different pre-courses every year. Since math lectures for math students or teacher training students cover different content than our HöMa courses, you should definitely attend the pre-course for ET/IT or ICT students. Another advantage is that you can already get to know fellow students from your course of study there and thus perhaps already make contacts for a study group.
You can find an overview of info about all math pre-courses on the pre-course page of the Department of Mathematics.
Semester ticket or pre-course ticket
The winter semester always officially begins on October 1. From then on, the semester ticket is also valid. Traditionally, the preliminary math course takes place in September, so you cannot use your semester ticket yet.
For the month of September, we therefore recommend that you buy the Deutschlandticket. For 49 € you can use local and regional public transport throughout Germany. This includes, for example, the S-Bahn and buses to the university and all other subways, regional trains and regional express trains.
If you read something about the Vorkursticket on older pages, you don't need to read any more about it. The Deutschlandticket offers a wider range of services at a lower price.
